BOBON
Kasey flew down to Pug Nation for a week to help with the influx of dogs that were being relinquished or picked up from shelters. We knew and expected that she would bring home a pupper. There were four candidates, but the one that needed a home the most and the fastest was Bobon. This sweet old man was found wandering the streets and had a huge mass, hanging and dragging from one of his testicles. It tested positive for cancer cells and needed to be removed promptly. He did not stand out at all at Pug Nation, he hid in a corner of the kitchen and was quite standoffish at first. For the remainder of her trip, Kasey spent more and more time in the free bird area, trying to make him comfortable. The night before they had to leave, Bobon had a seizure, but due to our previous experience with seizures, it did not sway our decision, if anything, it confirmed our choice. He arrived home and started medication to control the seizures. It didn’t take long before he started handing out kisses and we all fell a little more in love. For four months, he did well doing hot laps through the house and deck, putting on more miles than all of the others combined. In the new year, signs of neurological problems started that warranted a trip to the vet. Our thoughts were pretty similar, in that it was most likely a tumour in his brain, causing not only the neurological problems but also the main cause of the seizures. As the new year progressed, so did continuous circling, and of course, the seizures became more frequent and stronger. He was getting so tired and we knew it was time to say goodbye. Oh, how we miss your kisses and hearing the neuro bell as you wandered the house.
