COCO
This sassy pants little girl came to us from a relinquishment here in Southern Alberta. From the videos we received, it was obvious that she had a collapsing trachea but without medication, it sounded more aggressive than it could have been. When we got together to pick up Coco, we found out that she had been wheezing for years, with no medical intervention and THAT was why it was so awful. She had major breathing issues and it took quite a few vet visits, but with the right combo of medications and inhalers, it became a lot better and she, of course, fit right into the grumble! We loved her personality so much, and every day that she felt better she would strut through the kitchen with her broad chest out barking so her paws would leave the floor. We were so happy with her progress and ready to enjoy our first Christmas together, but then disaster struck. A week before Christmas, her trachea completely collapsed and we raced to emerg. Never before (or since) had we been taken directly into the back as we raced in with her for the quickest goodbye ever. The vet explained that over the years her trachea had become so soft that she was a ticking time bomb. The 6 short weeks we had with her was a true Christmas gift, it is amazing how you can love so hard and so fast in such a short amount of time.
