PIXIE PIE
Pixie! We were ecstatic to learn that we were finally able to bring you to the sanctuary. Pixie Pie had been at Pug Nation for 2 years (with a failed foster attempt) and had even become a “ spokespug” for the rescue. It was hard to imagine that someone as cute and sweet as Pixie was known as “The Pug Killer”. This sweet girl had a mean streak, and with ten seniors at Boon already, we would have our work cut out for us. We made Pixie her own little area in the living room, where she could be with everyone, but not within the attack zone, and we had to have specific times for her to be in Gen Pop… at first. It didn’t take long for us to integrate her with certain pugs and become, dare I say, social. It was crazy to watch her demeanour change and be able to be with everyone else. You shocked a lot of people, but not us! We knew you could do it and even took it one step further by becoming a cuddle bug! It was almost a year, half the time you were at the rescue that we got to love you. We put you to bed one night and when you woke up beside Kasey it was obvious you had suffered some sort of stroke in the night. We ran you to the vet and were told to bring you back to Boon and love you for the afternoon before we headed back to say goodbye. Thank you so much for showing everyone that it is possible to teach an old dog a new life.
