TROOPER
Oh, where to start with this sweet guy? If there was ever truth to having your heart stolen at first sight, this was it. We drove to California to bring home Olive and Paxton and immediately fell in love. To say this guy was a train wreck was a serious understatement! He was a cutie with a personality that could melt your heart. We added him to the back seat and started our journey home. As we got closer to the border, he started coughing and gagging, there was nasal discharge and his right eye started to swell a little. We had to stop in Montana at an emergency vet where we learned Trooper had such a horrible infection brewing that we had to start antibiotics immediately by IV at the office. After his treatment, we continued on our way to get our new family back to the sanctuary. Trooper continued to be the happiest struggle bus with various ailments but, no matter how much extra work he was with diapers, creams, medications, syringes or IV’s there was never a second that it was not worth it. Trooper passed away in his sleep in August 2018, we will never forget what he taught us about palliative/hospice care and more importantly, true love.
